Taking the Long Road

Early in my practice, I was given the advice: “Give yourself a long road.” Now more than ever, I feel this advice resonating both personally and in our collective community. If you find yourself craving connection and needing support during this seasonal shift, you’re not alone.

Some of the best guidance for paving my “long road” are with the touchstones that Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) lays out so clearly – rooting myself in seasonal themes, driven by the brilliance of the natural world. In other words, I try my best to ride the waves and navigate the terrain on a road that is part of something exceedingly bigger than myself.

Nature has a robust and built-in GPS if we are able to honor its resilience and ability to thrive, breakdown, and rebuild. Nature is cyclical. Nature is undeniable.  All qualities of nature are reflected in the practice of TCM, which is why it seems the perfect anecdote for me when other means of healing have left me feeling lost or frustrated.
Along this “long road,” I’ve been fortunate enough to walk side by side with all of you. Your resilience and trust have been my companions along the way, reminding me what a privilege it is to practice this medicine that is rooted in the laws of nature.
As I continue this journey, I know there are many more steps to take and the road stretches on. I look forward to the lives I will meet along the way and the lessons yet to be learned. I am grateful that you’ve chosen to walk this road with me.
May you find the courage to embrace wherever your path may bring you, and take it in small steps.
With Deep Gratitude,
Jamie
